News & Video: Captain Squeegee & Pyramix Studios Release “The Making of Your Own Invention” and gain recognition from the Phoenix New Times!
by Nick on Aug.29, 2010, under News, Videos
So this past July, Duane Woods, James Maras, and myself from Pyramix Studios, worked with seven really talented musicians in a band dubbed, “Captain Squeegee” (http://www.captainsqueegee.com). This group of guys are able to conjure up some crazy and progressive music for the soul! As we were working on the production of “Your Own Invention” I asked them what they would classify their music as, GENREly speaking (hehe)… Danny says that that he always explains to people that they are a “metaphysical ska-rock band with horns!” Think Queen and the Blues Brothers… I know right? Danny Torgerson is the mastermind behind this single, along with most of Captain Squeegee’s music. But don’t let that statement devalue the importance of the rest of the guys! Most of the instrumentalists in this ska-rock septet are MULTI-instrumentalists, and when I say they play multiple instruments, they are well versed and fluent on several instrumental platforms! I could go on and on for days about these guys, because not only are they talented, but their message is cryptic in many ways, and the more you listen to it the more you start to hear, and understand. So, if you’re tired of all of these half-bit poser metaphysical ska-rock bands out there, maybe it’s time that you take a trip over to Captain Squeegee’s website.
If that’s not enough, they were recently recognized by the Phoenix New Times in this short blog article.
This article was released only HOURS after the release of their “making of” documentary video, produced by Sean Oliver and Danny Torgerson from III Productions and can be watched here or below this post as you are reading this
If you have not yet heard the final release of “Your Own Invention” you can download your free copy from their official download site here.
Business: Commitable Core Values for your Business
by Nick on Aug.29, 2010, under Recording Business
I dig how online store Zappos values genuinity and humility in the workplace. I think that the idea of creating a cohesive and comfortable non-threatening work environment, while extending that comfort and human element to the customer is part of a GREAT business model! Not many workplaces in this day and age allow you to possess a personality during your 9AM-5PM.
Combine this with “Rural Sourcing” and your business may be well on its way to having a good foundation for success. These are elements that you can add to your small/large size business models to help _thicken your foundation_ for a sustainable and successful business plan. #EmbraceChange my friends.

So I was asked by a client to lay down a vocal track for one of his songs. We had a camera rolling for hours that night, and I thought it would be fun to share a little bit of… me.
This is the first video like this that I have ever posted, so eat it up while you can!
New Release: Captain Squeegee Releases New Single “Your Own Invention”
by Nick on Aug.12, 2010, under Uncategorized
Okay guys and gals! So I have been working with several new bands lately, and one of the most unique and energetic bands that I have had the pleasure of working with has finally released their new single for their web TV series or “Internet Saga” known as “Lucidity”. Take some time to check out this group of seven (7) interesting, original and extremely talented group of young musicians collaboratively known as, Captain Squeegee. More on the band, and the individuals who make-up the band can be found here. This abstract, fast-paced 20th century “Metaphysical Rock” piece is not for the faint of heart, but for whatever reason no matter what type of music you listen to (or don’t listen to for that matter) I can almost guarantee you that if you listen this song more than once, that you will find yourself humming, whistling or singling along to it at some for the next few days! Captain Squeegee has been an amazing group to work with, and I wish them the best in their future endeavors! I’ll soon post some pictures of our session together, and possibly share a story or two.
So without further adieu… On behalf Pyramix Studios, Captain Squeegee, and myself, we present to you…. Captain Squeegee’s “Your Own Invention”
